Jobsite Storage Requirements for Steel Deck

Published by the Steel Deck Institute (SDI), this white paper provides basic guidelines for the proper storage of steel decking after its arrival at the jobsite but before its erection. Jobsite storage has been addressed in prior SDI publications, but is revisited in this instance due to OSHA recommendations that fabrication lubricants—which also acted to prevent corrosion—be either removed prior to shipping or be reformulated for rapid evaporation, making the decking more susceptible to jobsite corrosion.
