Performance Comparison: Galvalume Versus Galvanized In Acid Rain Environments
Downloadable PDF
Published by the Zinc-Aluminum Coaters Association (ZAC), this document examines the long-term performance of the types of prepainted Galvalume-coated steel roof and wall panels favored in metal building construction versus similar panels manufactured from painted galvanized steel. The study used as test subjects metal buildings in aggressive acid-rain environments. The purpose of the document is to illustrate that Galvalume performs much more favorably and should therefore be used instead of galvanized for metal building projects in highly corrosive environments. Used to make the point are photographs of buildings skinned with both types of products.
