Code Requirements and Fire Stopping for Deck-Vented, Stone-Coated Metal Roofs
Downloadable PDF
Published by the Metal Construction Association (MCA), this White Paper states the association’s position that the eave detailing changes required of stone-coated metal roofs to meet IBC, IRC and International Wildland-Urban Interface Codes for ventilation and fire stopping, have no detrimental effect on the ability of those systems to help reduce the transmission of heat through the roof surface and into the attic below. That conclusion is backed by data from Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), which first documented the energy-saving abilities of the systems.
