Citadel Panels Provide Striking Color On High School Project In Alaska
Named for the famed poet and author who wrote about Alaska and the Klondike gold rush, Robert Service High School in Anchorage provides a colorful, uplifting appearance to students and the community as well.
Approximately 20,000 sq. ft. of Citadel Panel 20® MCM panels finished in five colors were used on the project. The colors include Colonial Red, Atlantic Sunrise, Sky Blue, Woodthrush and Charcoal. Citadel’s production process allows designers to incorporate a variety of colors without the minimum quantities and set-up charges often found in the industry.
Installation of the Citadel panels was done by Commercial Contractors Inc., Anchorage. According to Gregg Upton, project manager, “Panel 20 is a field-assembled system and that was beneficial to us in order to meet the general contractor’s schedule. We were able to bring in stock sheets of material and extrusions in the five different colors and actually field-fabricate it. That’s a real advantage.” Commercial Contractors, Inc. had used the Panel 20 system before on smaller jobs.
Design for the project was done by Architects Alaska, Anchorage. The Citadel distributor on the project was Pacific Architectural Products, Clackamas, OR.
