Mesco Building Solutions Supplies Products For Award-Winning School

Designed by Architectural Concepts, Inc., and completed in 2010 with structural framing and components supplied by Mesco Building Solutions, Rice Intermediate Middle School is an efficient hybrid structure that was nominated for and received the widely coveted Value Award from the Texas Association of School Administration and Texas Association of School Boards (TASA/TASB). The 70,000 square-foot structure encompasses both the surrounding area’s intermediate (grades 3 – 5) and middle schools (grades 6 – 8), and can house up to 500 students.

The project came about as an effective solution to alleviate overcrowding. With the two schools located on opposite ends of the building, the design maximizes space, utilities and manpower by providing the commons area perpendicular to the learning “pods,” including the gymnasium, library, cafetorium and administrative quarters.

Budget-friendly efficiency at the Rice Intermediate Middle School can be seen in more than its design elements. Mesco’s attractive BattenLok® HS Roof Panels and PBR Wall panels were utilized in conjunction with Mesco’s reliable framing system, giving the school a modern, streamlined aesthetic without breaking the bank.

Mesco exhibited at the TASA/TASB 2011 Convention where their award-winning Rice Intermediate Middle School project was featured.
