Architect Chooses Paradigm Roofing Shingles For Walls Of New England Home

Though more commonly featured in roofing applications, stamped metal shingles by Paradigm Shingles of Milton, VT, are also perfectly appropriate for use as a wall cladding. Evidence of that can be seen in Portland, ME, where they were recently specified by Richard Renner Architects for the exterior of a newly constructed 1,300 sq. ft. home.

Christopher Gormely Inc. of North Yarmouth, ME, was the general contractor for the project, which was built with environmental responsibility and energy efficiency in mind. It features R38 insulation in the walls and R58 insulation in the roof. The shingles were formed from 26-gauge Galvalume Plus steel coil (unpainted Galvalume-coated steel with a clear acrylic topcoat) from Sheffield Metals of Sheffield Village, OH. The local distributor of the Sheffield material was Admiral Building Products of Springfield, MA.
