Dri-Design Panel Application Helps Welcome Children To Outpatient Care Center
The Dayton Children’s Outpatient Care Center—Springboro, located in Miamisburg, OH, offers pediatric urgent care, medical imaging and rehabilitative services. The new 20,000 sq. ft. facility, located on an 11-acre site, is seeking LEED certification.
Approximately 4,700 sq. ft. of Dri-Design wall panels in three striking colors were used as a key design element. The .080"-thick aluminum panels were finished in Light Green, Marlin Blue and Dark Green/Juniper. Large, backlit smiling faces of children were inserted in the Dri-Design cladding.
Design for the project was done by Pinnacle Architects, Dayton. “Part of the design challenge was to give the single-story building some mass to make it more visible from the nearby interstate highway,” said David Glover, project architect. “The backlit images of the children helped make the building more welcoming along with the gables that are identified with the main campus in Dayton. The gables also help create a non-intimidating residential feel. We felt metal panels would be a good way to introduce color onto the façade and would provide a nice contemporary contrast against the brick. Dri-Design gave us an unlimited color palette without having to order 10,000 sq. ft. of material and pay a huge up-charge.”
Installation of the Dri-Design panels was done by JMD Architectural Products, Inc., Tipp City, OH. Spohn Associates, Indianapolis, was the product distributor.
Dri-Design rainscreen cladding panels can be made from a variety of materials including painted aluminum, zinc, copper and stainless steel. Panels are available in any Kynar color in both standard and custom sizes.
