Massive Warehouse Clad With More Than 200,000 Square Feet of Kingspan's Minor Rib Insulated Panels

When CVS/pharmacy, America’s leading retail pharmacy, constructed its new distribution center in Chemung County, NY, the company covered the 750,000-square-foot facility with approximately 220,000 square feet of insulated metal panels from Kingspan Insulated Panels North America.

Kingspan contributed its 300 Minor Rib product to the facility that will support the inventory and fulfillment needs of approximately 350 CVS/pharmacy stores in the northeast when it opens in the second quarter of 2011. Rollison Construction Sales, LLC, a metal siding and roofing specialty contractor in Rochester, NY, installed the 2.5-inch-thick insulated metal panels on all four walls of the building.

The 42-inch-wide panels were installed vertically in 45’3” lengths during an installation that went quickly and easily. According to Mark Ocwiega, owner of Rollison Construction Sales, the Kingspan panels met both the performance and aesthetic requirements for the distribution center in an economically efficient way. “The 300 Minor Rib delivered the required R-value – in this case 20 – for thermal and airtight performance. At the same time, the inverted rib provided a clean look in a subtle earth tone color.”

Available in a wide range of colors and thicknesses (2 to 6 inches), the 300 Minor Rib wall system features a polyisocyanurate (foam) core that is chemically bonded to non-permeable steel facings to provide continuous insulation and retain insulating values over time. R-values range from 16 to 49, depending on the panel thickness. Improved side joinery offers excellent foam-to-foam contact for full thermal seals, and the panel’s shallow profiles ensures superior sealing of vapor barriers.

In addition to exterior applications, the versatile 300 series panels can be used for interior walls, partitions and suspended ceilings.
