RHEINZINK® Curved Wall Highlights Office Building Courtyard
One of the amenities of the renovated Constitution Center office building in Washington, DC is a one-acre garden courtyard designed to provide relaxation space for tenants. Originally built in 1969 by noted architect Edward Durell Stone, Constitution Center is one of the city’s largest privately owned office buildings.
One of the features of the calm, reflective courtyard is a 4,300 sq. ft. compound radius wall clad with RHEINZINK® Flat Lock Panels. The 1mm, 20-gauge Pre-weathered Blue-Gray panels were fabricated by MetalTech—USA, Peachtree City, GA, and installed by Prospect Waterproofing, Sterling, VA.
The curved wall, along with a sculpture by Richard Deutsch, is designed to provide a meditative focal point in the garden. The courtyard also acts as a working green roof above a basement garage for 1,500 vehicles.
Architectural design for the project was provided by SmithGroup, Washington, DC.
