Dri-Design Wall Panels Provide Distinctive Look For New Urban-Lifestyle Apartment Complex
Carlyles Watch, in the heart of downtown Columbus, OH, offers the fusion of new, well-appointed apartment units located in an historic, urban setting. The new building includes 54 residences in seven stories in Columbus’ charming Gay Street District.
The building's exterior features a distinctive checkerboard design, created via the installation of 7,000 sq. ft. of Dri-Design® .080 aluminum panels finished in three colors: black, light gray and dark gray. The patented Dri-Design dry joint, pressure-equalized rainscreen system was installed by Thomas Glass, Columbus (visit at www.thomasglass.com). According to project manager Jack Stiles, “This was our first experience with Dri-Design and we found the company easy to work with and the system easy to install. The height of the building was really the only challenge. We were working from a swing stage so we couldn’t efficiently do the entire bottom first. We started from a corner and worked our way up by running the panels diagonally as far as we could and then moved the equipment. Dri-Design did a good job of on-time delivery and quickly handled any issues that we had. The job turned out great.”
Architectural design was provided by Meyers Welsh Architects, Columbus. The general contractor on the project was Ruscilli Construction Company, Columbus.
Dri-Design panels can be made from a variety of materials including painted aluminum, zinc, copper and stainless steel. Panels are available in any Kynar color in both standard and custom sizes.
About Dri-Design
Founded in Holland, Michigan in 1995, Dri-Design's signature product is an economically priced, 100% recyclable, pressure-equalized dry-joint rainscreen metal wall system that utilizes panels manufactured from PDVF-finished aluminum, anodized aluminum, zinc, copper, stainless steel, embossed stainless steel or titanium. Panels are offered in standard module sizes but can be produced in custom dimensions as well. Variations of the standard systems include the company’s Tapered and Shadow systems. Dri-Design also offers the revolutionary Ombrae™ graphic system, which sculpts three-dimensional pixels into Dri-Design panels to reflect light and form images. The process can be used to create everything from hanging artwork to building-sized exterior murals. To learn more about the company's products, visit www.dri-design.com.
