Palram Announces UL® Listing For Polycarbonate Products
Lehigh Valley, PA - Palram Americas, a leading manufacturer of polycarbonate and PVC sheets, has announced that the Palsun SG (Sign Grade) and Palsun CS (Coil Stock) polycarbonate products are now UL® listed and have been placed in the Sign Components Manual (SAM).
The SAM is a listing in a UL maintained file of compliant materials used in the construction of electronic signs, which must bear the UL label. As part of the SAM testing, Palsun SG and Palsun CS, in white and clear color options, were tested to UL 94 5VA. Both products are also listed as “approved for outdoor signs,” as they have each passed 1,000 hours of Xenon Arc testing. Additionally, Palsun SG and Palsun CS currently do not have component support load limitations in the SAM.
“Obtaining this approval broadens Palram’s reach into the sign market,” stated Tim Cronrath, Product Manager at Palram Americas. “This entry into the Sign Components Manual will allow sign shops to specify Palsun SG and CS for use in sign faces where UL listings are required.”
In preliminary testing, Palsun SG also has had great success in dispersing the light produced from LED sources while concealing the actual bulbs. With the understanding that there are many different LED technologies available on the market today, Palram recommends testing for particular applications. Palram will have light boxes available for product knowledge sessions soon.
Palsun SG is available in clear and white with thicknesses ranging from 3mm to 4.5mm and widths ranging from 48 inches to 80.7 inches. Palsun CS is available in clear and white with thicknesses ranging from 2mm to 6mm and widths ranging from 30 inches to 80 inches with coil lengths up to 300 feet. Custom colors and dimensions are also available for both products.
