Mid-Atlantic Steel Framing Alliance Expo To Be Held May 23-24

Event To Take Place In Conjunction With National CFSEI Conference And Annual Meeting

MASFA_Expo_CFSEI_Conference_logo.jpgWashington, DC - The Mid-Atlantic Steel Framing Alliance (MASFA) Expo and the National Cold-Formed Steel Engineers Institute (CFSEI) Conference/Annual Meeting will be held May 23-24, 2011 at the Historic Inns in Annapolis, Maryland. The combined events will provide updates on state-of-the-art innovations, technologies and principles in cold-formed steel framing. They are designed to benefit architects, builders/contractors, engineers, code officials, building inspectors, design professionals and developers, and other construction industry professionals.

“This is the only conference of its kind for the cold-formed steel framing industry,” Jeff Klaiman, P.E. and president of the MASFA, said. “It includes 16 sessions on a wide range of topics that are registered for continuing education units, a trade expo featuring technologies and services, and plenty of networking opportunities that will benefit seasoned professionals and newcomers to cold-formed steel framing.”

The keynote address on May 23 will be provided by Mike Anderson, vice president of northeast operations for Gypsum Management and Supply, Inc., who will provide insights on the state of the industry. The keynote address on May 24 will be delivered by Mark Nowak, president of the Steel Framing Alliance, who will discuss the impact of new energy codes on structural design. A dinner cruise sponsored by Aegis Metal Framing and ClarkDietrich Building Systems will be held on the evening of May 23.

The educational sessions will cover several areas of interest to industry professionals, including:

• Codes and standards

• Brick veneer

• Design/Build

• Insurance liabilities

• Delegated design

• International opportunities

• Lateral systems

• Sheathing braced design

• Curtain wall design

• Holes and penetrations

• Case studies of creative cold-formed steel designs
