Glenview, IL - The Metal Construction Association (MCA) recognized its 2011 Chairman's Award recipients during METALCON International, the only annual conference and exhibition dedicated to metal construction products, technologies and solutions. Previously named the MCA President's Awards, the Chairman's Awards are an annual designation given to outstanding building projects involving MCA member companies. The awards honor innovation and creativity while showcasing how metal products help achieve exceptional building designs.

METALCON 2011 took place October 11 through 13 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA. MCA presented a short video at METALCON honoring the ten projects. MCA member company representatives accepted award plaques afterward.

Recipients for the awards are selected each year from projects submitted by MCA members to Metal Architecture Magazine's annual Design Awards Program. This year, the honorees were chosen by a panel of experienced industry professionals.

The panel consisted of:

Michael Breclaw, AIA, LEED AP, principal and director of design for OKW Architects, Chicago, IL. Breclaw has 20 years of design experience in a number of disciplines, including mixed-use, multi-family residential, civic and higher education. Currently, he provides leadership to the firm's professional staff through design direction and strategic guidance.

• Elaine Fitzgerald, CSI, CDT, CCS, a registered architect with experience in commercial, higher education and high rise building design. Most recently, she was a project architect for Goettsch Partners, Chicago, IL and currently is an active member of the Construction Specifications Institute and Illinois Landmarks.

• Andy Hylton, LEED AP, healthcare services manager for The Walsh Group's Building Division, Chicago, IL. Hylton is a 15 year industry veteran and is currently coordinating and supporting healthcare project pursuits throughout the country for Walsh Construction and Archer Western Contractors.
