MCA Welcomes New Members

MCA 169 wide.gifGlenview, IL — Four additional companies have joined the Metal Construction Association (MCA), a growing association of member companies with specialties in the metal construction industry. The companies are Advanced Exterior Systems of Raleigh, NC; Dura Coat Products of Riverside, CA; and GSSI Sealants Inc. of Houston, TX. The Dow Chemical Company of Marietta, GA is a returning member.

Advanced Exterior Systems (AES) designs, engineers and fabricates panelized wall systems, light-gauge metal trusses, aluminum composite panel systems, architectural cladding systems and ceramic rain-screen wall systems. AES has served the commercial and industrial building industry in the Southeast U.S. since 1977. "We feel that, as an industry, the MCM panel business has long lacked a firm definition of what should be expected by the client. The establishment of this organization definitely begins to define the industry nationwide," said Mark Raynor, vice president of architectural cladding systems for AES. "The caliber and reputation of companies to date that are involved (in MCA) speak strongly to the dedication that exists to make this endeavor worthwhile."

Since 1986, Dura Coat Products has developed and manufactured high performance coatings for the protection of metal substrates. The company provides eco-friendly solutions to paint problems through research and development in resins and coating technology. "By being a member of MCA we can network and hopefully be a contributing factor to the organization," said Kevin Ebert, vice president of sales and general manager of the Riverside, CA facility. "It also gives us an opportunity to let Dura Coat Products become a better known entity in the coated steel and construction market. As Dura Coat has expanded our supply to the customers in the construction industry, we found it absolutely necessary that we support the main trade association that those customers belong to," said Ebert.

GSSI Sealants Inc. is a family-owned company that manufactures elastomeric butyl rubber sealant tapes for a wide range of industries and applications. The company has been in business for over 30 years. "The opportunity to learn more about issues affecting our industry and to be a part of the association addressing them is what appealed to us about MCA," said Miguel Pena, company spokesman. "We hope to tap the knowledge of MCA, through seminars and meetings, in order to understand the needs and direction of the industry and ultimately our customers. Also, to work closely with a like-minded network of manufacturers, suppliers, and marketers from the metal construction market is important."

The Dow Chemical Company is a diversified global chemical company with a broad range of products and services. The company manufactures polyisocyanurate (PIR) and polyurethane (PUR) rigid foams for use in metal-faced sandwich panels designed for commercial, industrial and residential building applications. "Dow Chemical is looking forward to participation in MCA due to its advocacy and desire to provide a united voice on behalf of the metal panel industry," said Robert (Bucky) Elrod, spokesman for The Dow Chemical Company.
