H.H. Robertson Floor Systems Earns Cradle To Cradle® Certification
Silver Level Earned For Cellular Flooring Products
Ambridge, PA - H.H. Robertson Floor Systems, a CENTRIA company, has earned prestigious recognition by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute for its flexible and sustainable product line. A leading manufacturer of in-floor cable distribution systems, the company was granted Cradle to Cradle® Certification at the Silver Level, a key metric in sustainable building that demonstrates a product meets established standards for human health, environmental health and recyclability.
“H.H. Robertson in-floor cabling distribution systems contain a high percentage of recycled content, are fully recyclable, minimize jobsite waste and conserve materials during the manufacturing process,” said Kevin Daily, marketing manager, H. H. Robertson Floor Systems. “The systems also reduce or eliminate the need for other building materials in order to cable a building, including conduit, cable trays, power poles, poke-thru devices, access floor panels, pedestals and others.”
Since H.H. Robertson's in-floor cable distribution system also serves as the steel decking for steel frame construction, use of the system represents a significant net reduction in material usage, while enhancing the health, safety and welfare of building occupants. Finally, the use of H.H. Robertson systems contributes to LEED certification.
The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, Inc. is a non-profit organization focused on bringing about a large scale transformation in manufacturing processes. The Institute utilizes a set of design principles, based on the laws of nature, to help businesses create products that are safe for people and the environment, as well as driving economic, ecological and social prosperity.
While this is H.H. Robertson’s first Cradle to Cradle certification, it makes 14 for parent company CENTRIA, whose Formawall® Dimension Series® was the first exterior building product to be Cradle to CradleCM certified.
“We have always focused on making our wire distribution systems the safest choice in flooring, and now we are proud to be playing a strong role in sustainable building practices,” explains Daily. “The Cradle to Cradle certification process is rigorous, and it requires annual renewal, so we feel confident that we’re delivering a responsible product that benefits not only our customers, but the environment.”
