Deadline Nearing For Kingspan's Legacies Design Competition

Deland, FL - Kingspan Insulated Panels North America, a global manufacturer of insulated metal panels, is closing its call for submissions for the Kingspan Legacy Competition on October 1, 2011. The first-place prize is a $5,000 scholarship to an educational institution or architectural student in the winner’s name, selected by the winner, and an Apple® MacBook® Pro. In addition, the winning entry will be published in the November issue of Architect magazine. Second- and third-place winners will each receive an Apple iPad® 2.

The contest, open to architects and architectural students, challenges participants to design and construct legacy-worthy structures, using paper and scissors, and submit them in one of four categories: commercial, institutional, industrial, retail and corporate (low-rise).

Contestants can register for the competition online and download contest materials from the microsite – www.legaciesarebuilt.com. Upon completing their buildings, contest participants should upload photographs of their buildings to the Legacies are Built microsite, where site visitors can vote on their favorite design. The ten entries that receive the most votes will then be judged by a panel of architects and industry experts. In the event a student wins the competition, the scholarship will be applied toward the winner’s education.

The competition, including voting and submitting entries, closes October 1, 2011, and winners will be announced at Greenbuild 2011.
