CENTRIA Sees Sustainable Results From Recycle, Reuse, Reclaim Initiatives
Innovations In Sustainability Don’t End At The Design And Manufacturing Stages

Moon Township, PA - CENTRIA’s formal and verifiable Recycle, Reuse and Reclaim initiatives have generated impressive results and demonstrate the company’s unparalleled commitment to sustainable practices in the built environment.
“CENTRIA’s commitment to sustainability in the commercial building industry doesn’t end at the design and manufacturing stages of product development,” said Carla Liebenguth, Sustainability Associate, CENTRIA. “We’re continually looking at ways to extend the life of our products. Our Recycle, Reuse and Reclaim initiatives, along with partner organizations, help us make a real and substantial positive environmental impact.”
CENTRIA’s Sheridan, Ark., plant works in collaboration with Metro Scrap Metals, Inc., to recycle any scrap metal generated during the manufacturing process. In 2010, CENTRIA facilitated the recycling of more than 1.1 million pounds of scrap metal.
In addition to recycling scrap metal, CENTRIA partners with Sizemore Metal Products to repurpose products that were originally used for test runs or do not meet CENTRIA’s high standards for sale. For example, some of the products designated for reuse are used for agricultural buildings, church camps, or camping trailers. Future opportunities for reuse, based on the location and current use of metal panels, are in the planning stages.
CENTRIA’s well-established recycling and reuse procedures allowed the company to implement a Reclaim Program, one of the first of its kind in the commercial building industry. This initiative gives building owners the option of sending used CENTRIA panels from deconstructed or renovated buildings at the end of the current exterior wall life to the Sheridan plant. Once there, the panels will be assessed for either reuse or recycling.
These innovative programs help to move CENTRIA towards a more sustainable system, maximizing benefits for the built environment while minimizing any potential negative impact on the natural environment.
