CENTRIA’s Kentucky Plant Receives Safety Award

Receives Top Safety Honor For Second Time In Four Years

Moon Township, PA - CENTRIA, an industry leader in the design, development and manufacture of architectural metal wall and roof systems, announces that its Frankfort, Kentucky plant recently received the 2010 Governor’s Safety and Health Award. The award was presented June 8, 2011 by Kentucky Secretary of Labor Mark Brown, and is presented to Kentucky businesses whose employees work a certain number of hours without any occupation-related injuries or illnesses.

CENTRIA’s employees needed 250,000 hours to qualify for the award. The Frankfort facility far exceeded this amount with no lost-time accidents over the course of 515,527 hours – the amount of hours worked since the company’s first Safety and Health Award in 2006. With two awards in four years, CENTRIA’s stringent safety procedures are working and keeping employees safe as they produce a high quality product for the building construction industry.

“We have three goals: safety, production and quality. Safety comes first,” said CENTRIA plant manager, Gary Brunette. “We want them to go home the same way they come in every day.”

All CENTRIA manufacturing team members wear safety glasses with side shields, gloves and steel-toed boots to maximize safety in the workplace. This is in keeping with the company’s annual Plan for Occupational Health and Safety. In addition, the plan requires that health and safety policies and procedures be reviewed during monthly leadership visits to all CENTRIA facilities, discussed at all quarterly CENTRIA Town Hall meetings and be actively promoted throughout the organization. The goal of all of these initiatives is to minimize the impact to employees and business processes from occupational illnesses and injuries. There is a spirit of collaboration as team members and leaders search out and implement the latest advances in industrial safety. Progress is regularly monitored and adjustments are initiated as a way of ensuring optimal safety.

This latest award demonstrates the success of this multi-faceted approach, which supplements site-specific safety initiatives at all CENTRIA manufacturing centers, which in addition to Frankfort, are located in Ambridge, Pa., Sheridan, Ark., and Cambridge, Oh.

“I cannot think of a better testament to CENTRIA’s commitment to safety than to be recognized two times by the state of Kentucky in this way,” said Ray Caudill, Vice President, Operations, CENTRIA. “We are incredibly proud of our Frankfort manufacturing facility for this honorable and important achievement.”
