Kansas City, MO - Ronald J. (Ron) Miller has been named Vice President – Innovation for BlueScope Buildings North America. Miller will lead a new group established within BlueScope Buildings North America (NA) to expand opportunities for the company’s multi-brand metal building systems and services in the non-residential building construction marketplace. He will report to Dan Kumm, President of BlueScope Buildings North America (NA), a subsidiary of BlueScope Steel Ltd., Australia’s largest steelmaker, that acquired Butler Manufacturing Company in April, 2004.
Prior to his new position, Miller had gained more than 28 years of experience with Butler Manufacturing in marketing communications, product research and development, marketing programs for new products, acquisitions and alliances, builder relations, and programs that differentiated Butler Builders in the non-residential building industry.
After working in the computer software industry, he became a management consultant in the Construction & Building Materials group of Arthur D. Little & Company. In 1983, Miller joined Butler as Marketing Manager with the Buildings Division, a position he held until 1988 when he was named General Manager of the Northeast Region of Vistawall, an architectural aluminum window products subsidiary of Butler. He returned to Butler Manufacturing Company where he has held the position of Vice President of Marketing since 1991.
A native of Rahway, New Jersey, Miller earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (‘74) from Tufts University, and a Master’s in Business Administration from Dartmouth College (’79). He and his family reside in Lee’s Summit, MO.
