It’s always seemed to me that government-related projects—whether they’re at the local, state or federal level—are outstanding candidates for the use of metal construction products.
Through the years, I’ve seen thousands of these buildings that benefitted from new and retrofit metal roofing, metal wall panels and, of course, metal building systems and cold-formed (light-gauge) steel framing.
Metal products are at their best in government applications where a premium is placed on product longevity, minimal required maintenance, low life-cycle cost and beauty. All of these are areas where metal products truly shine.
With that in mind, we recently paid tribute to this seemingly recession-proof market segment recently with the publication of our Best Of DesignandBuildwithMetal Government Facilities edition, 2009. To check it out, click here.
In this “green”, paperless ezine you’ll find profiles of 16 notable projects representing the vast range of government facilities—everything from a municipal market building to a ferry terminal to a parking garage. There’s also a community center, justice center, Social Security Administration building, and even a municipal market building—plus much more.
Some of the projects are simply beautiful, destined to be landmarks for decades to come, while others are more utilitarian showcases of the durability of metal products. Whatever your interest in government-related construction, I’m confident that you’ll pick up an idea or two by checking out this special ezine.
In addition to our Best Of DesignandBuildwithMetal.com Government Facilities Edition, 2009 ezine, you can also browse related case studies in the Municipal, Public Safety and State/Federal sections of our Project Type Gallery.
