Description: This course is designed to be an introduction to photovoltaics with a focus of implementing solar powered renewable energy on rooftops. It covers the history and evolution while describing how today’s most prevalent and emerging technologies function. The advantages and disadvantages of each will be discussed. Participants will gain an understanding of the different technologies used for photovoltaics and how this electricity producing renewable energy can be integrated into new and existing buildings. The often asked questions, "When is it appropriate to apply a PV System?" and "Why is it advantageous to apply a PV System?" will be answered.
